Fab Couples

Amy and Peter Foerster

Amy Foerster, chiropractor and owner/CEO, Absolute Chiropractic + Wellness

Peter Foerster, vice president and architect, Optima, Inc.

How did your love story begin? Amy: We went to the same high school (I actually went to prom with one of Pete’s best friends) but we didn’t truly connect until the summer of 1999. We were both home from college for the summer, and a mutual friend asked us to play on the same team in a sand volleyball league. Pete started pursuing me, and we had the best summer dating and getting to know each other.  We spent the next five years dating at long distances while we both finished up post-graduate degrees.  While traveling after our final graduation, Pete proposed to me in Sevilla, Spain…and the rest is history!

Favorite thing about one another: Amy: Pete is literally a “rock.” He has this way about him that makes me feel at home, grounded and unconditionally loved. He is the ultimate optimist, is patient, supports me in everything I do, and gives the best advice. I love his sense of humor and his willingness to not take life too seriously. He is the best dad to our kids, fosters their personalities and encourages them to be who they want to be.

Pete: If there is one trait above all, that I value in a person, it is kindness. Amy scores an 11 out of 10 in this regard. She treats everyone in her life fairly and seeks to help others in need without a concern for praise or reward. I always very much appreciate that we have the same interests in recreation and sports including, volleyball, watersports and hiking. Because of this, we are usually spending most all of our free time together. I can honestly say I don’t ever grow tired of spending time together.

Favorite date night: Since this is Wisconsin in the winter, we love a great dinner and wine followed by live music. In the summer, we love to play a round of golf together with a nice meal and drinks to follow…or spending time on our boat on the summer nights watching the sunsets.

Favorite tradition you have as a couple: We love to surprise each other with experience gifts (surprise getaways, concert tickets and more), and take a big anniversary trip every five years.

What does your happily ever after look like? As we get closer to being empty-nesters, we look forward to seeing our kids become successful adults and live their happiest lives. We hope to retire early and simplify. We are already laying plans to spend our winters in warmer weather, play a lot of golf and travel, but we will likely always call Wisconsin home.
