The Edison

The Edison, a new eatery in the Third Ward area of Milwaukee, is already turning heads with its classy, approachable ambiance and flavorful brunch and dinner menus. The restaurant is owned and operated by Benson’s Restaurant Group, which counts Milwaukee-based OnestaSmoke ShackBlue Bat Kitchen & TequilariaAJ Bombers and The Bridgewater Modern Grill among its impressive lineup.

This welcomed addition to the neighborhood is situated on Broadway and how fitting as the outside is reminiscent of a 1930’s picture show theater with bright lights—ready for guests to enjoy the main event of a delicious meal, craft cocktails and impeccable service.

Grab a seat at the bar, among the 40-plus outdoor patio seats, at a table in the large dining room or in an oversized booth with deep green-velvet backs with all the swanky jazz-era feels. The Edison is the perfect spot for a dinner date night or brunch with friends or colleagues.

General Manager Patrick Erdman explains that the menu is full of familiar dishes you have seen over the years but with newer twists, evident at both brunch and dinner. Brunch features fun appetizers like Wagyu link pigs in a blanket, crispy lobster fingers and tempura shallots. There’s a nice selection of salads and sandwiches like the Edison Hero, featuring shaved prime rib, thick-cut bacon and horseradish on a truffle-buttered hoagie, or the popular sweet tea-brined fried chicken sandwich. Breakfast-y items include the hearty brioche French toast with savory bruleed bananas and a delightful hazelnut cream butter; fried chicken and waffles; ricotta scrambled eggs with truffle butter; and the signature eggs benedict with prime rib. Brunch cocktails take on the classic Bellini, Bloody Mary and espresso drinks. We love the You’re No Daisy, made with tequila, ginger beer, orange bell pepper syrup and Disco Inferno liquid heat – spicy and refreshing!

Dinner cocktails feature nostalgic swigs with modern and flavorful twists like the Gin Rickey made with Roku Japanese Gin, The Milwaukee Fizz with Central Standard Door County Cherry Vodka and The Edison’s twist on the Old Fashioned with bourbon, burnt butterscotch demerara and blackstrap bitters. There’s a nice selection of spirit-free options as well as wine and local Midwest draft beers.
