Fabulous People: Taytum Oswald

Two local junior golfers will represent Wisconsin at the annual Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals hosted by the PGA of America after earning first place finishes in their age groups during the National Finals Qualifier at TPC Deere Run. Today, meet 11-year-old Taytum Oswald of Beloit, coached by Travis Becker of TPC Wisconsin – Madison, who will compete with 80 junior golfers during the finals April 7.

Hometown: Beloit

How did you get your start in golf: We lived in a golf course community in Kentucky, and my dad would take me to the driving range when I was just 3 years old.

What are you most looking forward to during the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals: Having the opportunity to play at Augusta National. It’ll be pretty exciting…I’m going to be excited no matter how I do there.

How does it feel to be representing WI: It feels pretty special to not only represent Wisconsin but also the Midwest.

Favorite local golf courses: TPC Wisconsin (Madison), Beloit Club (Beloit) and Bass Creek (Janesville).

Someone who inspires you and why: Izzi Stricker. She won a Wisconsin state high school championship, and she is going to play college golf at University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I play AAU basketball for the Purple Aces.

What makes someone fabulous: How you treat others and your determination to get better.
