Fab Couples: Wisconsin

Luke & Monica Pfeifer

Luke Pfeifer, owner and managing director, Adventure Hospitality; Monica Pfeifer, owner and Event Wizard, Adventure Hospitality

Home base: Lake Geneva

How did your love story begin? Monica: We met at Lakeland College (now Lakeland University) just outside Sheboygan. Luke was my orientation leader during my freshman year. While we ran into each other throughout my freshman year, it wasn’t until my sophomore year, when we were orientation leaders together, that our connection formed.

Luke: Monica was on our campus activity board and helped plan several student events. Our first date ended up being an event she had planned: a student trip to Six Flags Great America.  It’s a good thing I loved rollercoasters, as did she! And it all started from there.

Favorite thing about one another: Monica: I love how well we work together and are focused on creating outstanding guest experiences. Luke cares so much about our daughter and me, and not only us but everyone, as he wants to see others happy and succeed. He is so smart about business and finances; we are where we are today with his brain.

Luke: Monica has always supported my dreams and career growth. I am blessed to have all her support. This has meant dealing with the rollercoaster of emotions, frustration, success and celebration that has come along this journey. She loves me for who I am, regardless of how odd I can be!

Favorite date night: Our perfect date night is staying at a unique hotel for a night, having a great dinner, a few cocktails and enjoying some live entertainment like a concert or a play.

Favorite tradition you have as a couple: For the longest time, we have made from-scratch soft pretzels every New Year’s Eve. We also ensure we make the year we are going into with the pretzels. This is such a tradition that when we were expecting, we made pretzels shaped with letters that spelled boy and girl. We then ate away at the pretzels, posting pictures online until only a girl was left.

What does your happily ever after look like? We want to continue to grow our hospitality portfolio of businesses but want to ensure we grow leaders who will guide the business’s day-to-day so we can travel the world. We are blessed to have already traveled internationally but look forward to visiting all the Disney Parks (yes, we are Dis-nerds!) and hopefully doing several long international cruises, even an around-the-world cruise.
