The Charmant Hotel in the heart of La Crosse, Wisconsin, is a beautiful boutique hotel that is a renovated 1898-built Candy Factory.

Architectural details of the original building have been preserved and reimagined, including maple wood flooring, wood beams, and exposed brick. The name is derived from two different things – Charmant was a premium line of chocolates produced by the resident candy company. Charmant is also the French word for “charming,” which is very appropriate as this property just oozes charm.
Rooms
While this 67-room boutique hotel has tons of historic charm, you’ll also find modern, upscale amenities in the rooms such as a 48-inch flat-screen high-definition TV, Bongo Bluetooth speaker, Euro-top mattress, double vanity, rainfall shower and more. This might have been one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on, and my spoiled fur children seemed to agree, as they never wanted to get out of the bed! Some rooms also offer bathtubs, sleeper sofas, sitting areas, private balconies, and views of the Mississippi.

The Charmant Hotel has a 24-hour fitness center with two Cybex treadmills, a Cybex Total Body Arc Trainer, and an adjustable workout bench. The gym offers open-matted space for stretching and for using free weights, stability balls, and other workout aids. There is also a comfy and quiet business center with computers and wifi. If you want to explore La Crosse on a nice day, there are Charmant bikes you can take for a cruise.
Dining
The Charmant Hotel has several restaurants and bars on property including The Restaurant, The Parlour, Rooftop Terrace, Sweets Bar and Lobby Bar & Lounge. The Restaurant is their upscale, sit-down restaurant that serves rustic French–inspired cuisine in a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. It is open 7 days a week, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as brunch on the weekends. The Parlour, located off the lobby, functions as a coffee bar during the day and a spirits and wine bar by night.
The Rooftop Terrace is perched atop the hotel, providing sweeping views of the city. The bar serves beer, wine, and handcrafted cocktails, to accompany the Rooftop Terrace’s specialty: wood-fired pizza. The Rooftop Terrace is open as the weather permits. The Sweets Bar is located next to the check in desk and offers handmade chocolates 24 hours a day. The Lobby Bar & Lounge opens at 11am daily and can be used as a gathering place for drinks or a casual lunch or dinner spot.
Dog-Friendly
The Charmant Hotel is very dog-friendly. They allow dogs of any number and size in guest rooms for a one-time fee of $75. The Sassi Pups were provided with dog beds and bowls, and lots of love from the staff and other guests.
