Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel

Located in the theater district of Downtown Milwaukee, Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel is a destination for foodies, art fans, business travelers, and local explorers. Featuring delicious dining, clever cocktails, and art everywhere – with six different art galleries and even art around the hotel rooms – this hotel is designed for exploring and taking the time to dive into the details.

Stepping into the lobby of Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel, you’re immediately greeted by the boutique hotel’s signature scent and bright expansive lobby, thoughtfully dotted with art. There’s a sculpture in the entryway. To your left is the Bar, in front, a few of the six galleries dotted around the hotel, and to the right is check-in and the offer of a glass of sparkling. The ambiance is elegant and artful while being approachable and friendly.

It’s all in the name. Saint Kate is an arts hotel. Artful souvenirs in the lobby, rotating galleries featuring local artists, clever life-like sculptures in the Bar, there’s even art on the in-room hair dryer bag. Here, art goes beyond galleries. Ride in all three elevators to see different video installations. On floors 3 to 10, the elevator landings feature All Floors, showing the floor number in American Sign Language.

Take the “Artists You are Sleeping With” brochure on a tour to find the art in your room. On lampshades, walls, in the closet, shower, sink, and even the soap. Bring home an “Erase Bar,” the pink-eraser-shaped soap by Niki Johnson, in the lobby gift shop, Kate’s Closet.

For a truly unique experience, stay in one of four Canvas rooms. Saint Kate describes them as a “living, breathing piece of art” by local artists. Each room has a different design from the truly immersive Leopard Room by Lon Michels to the chill, music-inspired This Time Tomorrow by Cory Zimmerman, featuring a playable guitar and electronic piano.

Don’t leave your art-loving pet at home. Big, small, furry, or scaly, Saint Kate is pet-friendly with amenities to pamper your pet.

Work up an appetite playing the ukulele or drawing with the colored pencils and pad found in every room. Feast and imbibe with in-room dining or in the lobby at the Bar, a popular spot with cocktails and small bites. Proof Pizza offers Neapolitan-style pies perfect for lunch or late nights.

Wander to the second floor for more dining and art. Aria Restaurant and Giggly Champagne & Wine Bar offer gorgeous views of the theater district. Aria is open for dinner with a seasonal creative menu with dishes like Peas and Carrots starter and Dopio Ravioli, featuring dueling ravioli. The dishes are offered with a variety of barrel-aged and mocktail cocktails, beers, and wines from Giggly. At Giggly’s weekend brunch, a DJ provides the perfect soundtrack for bottomless mimosas and clever locally-inspired dishes like Bronze Fonz french toast or Dells Style Lumberjack Skillet.

Saint Kate has regular art tours and live music, including the Greg Marcus Duo featuring the musical stylings of Marcus CEO Greg Marcus. Saint Kate loves to celebrate with special events throughout the year – for the Kentucky Derby, Father’s Day, a Holiday Market, the hotel’s fifth Anniversary in June 2024, and for shows at the Marcus Performing Arts Center.
