Open since February 2024 in Racine County in an intimate space within Sola Salons, Root Rituals Head Spa is a tranquil and relaxing spot offering unique facials…for your scalp. Owner Shelby Jaimez’s business is already turning heads as one of the few spas in Wisconsin specializing in this type of experience.
The multi-step holistic scalp facial starts with an up-close look at the scalp with a device that magnifies it 200 times. Hair product build-up, hair loss, scalp conditions and irritations are just a few things the magnifier can identify. The device can actually catch hair loss that customers may not even be aware of by examining the hair follicles. From there, Root Rituals will formulate a protocol and personalize your appointment.
Guests relax in a warm, comfortable chair with Zen music as the hour-long session begins with an antibacterial/anti-fungal wash. The next step is a deep cleansing and exfoliation, followed by a custom blended hair mask. While the mask sets in, guests are treated with a soothing mini facial. For the ultimate relaxation, the service is complete with an immersive meditative experience of an herbal waterfall sound bath. Guests will then get another look at their scalp through the magnifier to see the results of a cleaner and happier scalp.
“Healthy hair starts with the scalp, and it’s important to take care of it. We hold an incredible amount of tension in our jaw, head and scalp. We don’t think about our scalps because we just don’t see it every day,” says Jaimez, who has a background in hair salons, acupuncture and cosmetology.
Root Rituals Head Spa is by appointment only and is booking several months out. The spa continues to grow rapidly as the need for scalp care grows, with a hope of hiring more staff and having more space in the near future.
Jaimez recommends scalp facials every four to six weeks for the general guest but, depending on other concerns, a plan is formulated to help address those needs. A 60-minute treatment is $150.
