Camp Kettlewood

If you want to unplug, unwind, and channel your inner camper (or glamper), Camp Kettlewood, nestled on 80 acres of nature wonderscape in East Troy, is the destination you have been looking for.

Camp Kettlewood was founded in 2020, but the history here runs deep. The property previously belonged to the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin-Badgerland Council, welcoming young campers for over 50 years. Current owners Simona and Jeremy Ebner fell in love with the land, and they worked diligently to create a comfortable experience while keeping the rich history and tradition alive to share with campers for decades to come. The couple also live on the property in the renovated lodge and serve as full-time camp hosts and caretakers.

This dreamy private boutique campground in Walworth County has a myriad of camping options available for singles, couples, and larger groups. Camp Kettlewood is kid-friendly, and dogs are allowed with a few restrictions and an additional fee. Campsites are also set apart so you can enjoy nature without sharing the space with other groups.

Camper sites include a shiny and adorably decorated 1977 Airstream, a retro turquoise 1957 Holly, or a trio of vintage trailers in the affectionately-named area called Mushroom Gulch. The small tent sites of Sunset Ridge and Crow’s Nest include heavy canvas vintage tents on platforms which give a more rustic feel and take the hassle out of having to lug your camping gear to the site. The Hilton area sleeps up to eight guests and is the premium, canvas-platform tent site with plush mattresses and a “great room” for all guests to gather and enjoy each other’s company.

Camp Kettlewood is also home to a set of eight Antique Scout Cabins, which are original to a neighboring scout camp. The cabins were carefully moved to their new homes, repaired, refurbished, and decorated with chic camp flea market finds. These spaces are cozy and comfortable and give off major Parent Trap vibes as well as sporting cool names like Briar Patch, Sunset View, The Highlands, and Tall Timber. Some have lake views; others overlook protected wetlands or are tucked into shaded old-growth forests.

Each site is equipped with comfortable beds, gas grills, hammocks, warm glowing string lights, fire pits, and bundles of firewood. There are also bathroom buildings with flush toilets and four open-air rainfall showers. Campers provide their own drinks, food, and toiletries. Golf carts are also provided in the two parking areas to help campers haul their bags to their sites.

Leave the computer at home; there’s no Wi-Fi at Camp Kettlewood, and the owners encourage guests to connect in other ways whether it’s a hike, board games, or s’mores by the fire. The property also hosts events including weddings in its partially covered pavilion.
