Restaurant of the Week: Who’s on Third

Who’s on Third: Not only a tavern with a clever name, but a go-to casual bar that celebrates all things Wisconsin sports. Open since 2014, Who’s on Third in Downtown Milwaukee (near the corner of Old World Third and State Street) clearly has the right mix of fun, food and drinks for sports fans of any age.

Large TV’s and a giant 120-in. projection screen ensure guests never miss a moment of the sports action. Outdoor street seating also provides great people-watching on Third Street (heaters available in colder months). Cool hand-painted art by local artist Jimmy Cha Cha adorns the walls paying homage to the Bucks, Brewers, Admirals, Wave, Badgers, Packers and the stadiums that host them.

Dive right into Wisconsin flavors with the homemade, lightly breaded and fried cheese curd appetizer with the delightfully tangy secret Who’s Sauce. Guests cannot go wrong with traditional award-winning wings with several unique sauces to choose from, like scorpion whiskey, hot bacon buffalo and sriracha ginger. Nachos, dips and warm pretzels are other great starter options. The hot and crispy sweet potato fries is another delicious starter, served with a secret warm and not-too-sweet marshmallow dipping sauce.

Keep the flavors flowing with one of Who’s on Third’s delicious bratwursts from neighbor, world-famous Usinger’s Sausage. Go simple with the onions and sauerkraut on the Milwaukee brat or try the Oink Oink brat with BBQ pulled pork, jalapenos and crispy onions strips on a warm pretzel bun. And what’s more Wisconsin than a mac and cheese brat with bacon? All cooked to perfection with that classic brat “snap” when you bite. (If you know, you know!)

Tons of salad and sandwich options are available to satiate any appetite. Who’s on Third has many burgers to choose from, including The Works Burger, a fresh patty covered with cheese, caramelized onion, lettuce, tomato, pickle and that special Who’s Sauce again. The dish is finished off with light and airy kettle chips. Wash it all down with an impressive beer list or a fun cocktail like a cucumber mule, Joe Fashioned or Pink Dolphin drink, all served by Who’s on Third’s friendly staff.

In addition to Who’s on Third’s lunch and dinner menu, the restaurant offers up a late-night menu after 10 p.m. and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Weekends and late nights cater to a younger crowd, while weekends offer up a laidback vibe to catch a few brews and a few innings.

Now that baseball is back in action, check out the Brewers home schedule and hop the free shuttle to and from American Family Field.

Who’s on Third is open Sunday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m.
