Hometown: Fond du Lac, WI
First job: 4K Head Start teacher.
Favorite ways to spend your free time in WI: Exploring parks, beaches, and small towns with my kids.
Your biggest accomplishment and why: Learning and growing in the field of early childhood development, working in classrooms for over a decade and being able to fulfill the role of director. Using what I’ve learned as a teacher and a parent to create curriculum that facilitates learning through play and social/emotional development.
The biggest obstacle you overcame: My journey into motherhood was a catalyst for a lot of self-reflection and growth through difficult times dealing with postpartum mental health challenges.
Someone who inspires you and why: My children inspire me with their resilience, insatiable curiosity, playful nature and unconditional love.
Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Blaze your own trail rather than simply following the path. It’s not all about hard work. It’s about knowing your individual strengths and gifts and finding a way to show others how you can use them to be of service.
Favorite quote: “Don’t be so concerned with raising a good child that you forget you already have one.”
Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I was a 10-week early, 3-lb. preemie.
What makes someone fabulous: Knowing who you are and what you stand for and using the daily practices that keep you in alignment with your authentic self.
