Best advice for how to be more sustainable in our day-to-day lives? Start small. Living a truly sustainable lifestyle may require some big changes, but you don’t have to make those changes overnight and you don’t have to start with the most challenging changes. Start with one or two small changes, like committing to using reusables, recycling regularly, eating less meat, driving less, looking for fair-trade products, or purchasing second-hand. When these habits become a regular part of your routine, make the next change(s).

Why is it so important to be more eco-minded in our work? Life on earth depends on it. The planet, and we who live here, cannot sustain our current level of resource consumption, loss of natural ecosystems or greenhouse gas emissions. Many of the negative environmental impacts we see are related to our work and production systems. Making sustainable changes in the way we work and how we produce can significantly increase our chances of saving the ecosystems we depend on so we can enjoy all our planet has to offer for generations to come.

What impact do you most hope to leave on your community and the world? Sustainability is incredibly complex and there are no easy solutions. What I hope for most is to be able to help organizations and my community become more socially and environmentally aware,  responsible, and empowered. By making sustainability more accessible, and by showing people and organizations how making incremental improvements can help advance the changes our world needs, I hope to make my impact.
