Fab Couples: Wisconsin

Brad & Renee Lois

Brad Lois, regional manager, Brown Wilbert Precast; Renee Lois, regional manager, TrueCar. “We also own our RV renovation business called WiscoFlip where we turn campers into tiny homes.”

Homebase: Burlington, WI

How did your love story begin? Renee: We were two single, divorced parents. Both of us were ready to see what else life could bring. We met on Match.com and agreed to a first date. We dated for about a month and then went our separate ways. He wasn’t ready for anything too serious, and I wasn’t going to date just to date. Several months later, he contacted me and said he thought he’d made a big mistake by letting things go. We reconnected and after a year, we introduced our kids to each other. Neither of us wanted to get the kids involved unless things were headed in the direction of marriage. We both said if the kids hated each other, we would agree to go our separate ways again but for good this time. The first day we introduced the kids, the girls asked if they could be sisters and the rest is history. It’s been eight years, and the kids are as close as ever and we, as a couple, couldn’t be in a better place.

Favorite thing about one another: Renee: He’s the most giving man I know. He sacrifices his own time for others and no matter the circumstance (specifically with shuffling schedules with the kids), he always says “we’ll make it work” even when it seems impossible. He’s strong but gentle, he’s fair when it comes to conflict and he’s steady. He absolutely is my best friend and the man I love doing life with.

Brad: There are many things that I love about Renee; however, her ability to move me out of my comfort zone is one of my favorites. Whether it is taking a trip, talking to strangers at the pool in Cancun or looking at me at the beginning of COVID-19 and saying “Want to renovate a camper?” She is always able to make me feel comfortable, even when I am not sure. Knowing that she is right there next to me lets me try or do just about anything. Together there is nothing that we can’t do.

Favorite date night: Any night that we can get out of the house together is a win. Between both of our full-time jobs and our part-time RV renovation business (we also have two teenage girls that play club sports), we have very little time for date nights.

Favorite tradition you have as a couple: Five years ago, we decided at Christmas that we weren’t going to collecting “things” anymore but we would start collecting memories. So instead of Christmas gifts, we take all three of our kids to Mexico with us. Although it’s a family affair, it also happens to be our favorite tradition as a couple.

What does your happily ever after look like? We are absolutely living the dream right now and feel really lucky to have a wonderful, healthy family, full-time jobs that we enjoy and a part-time business that we absolutely love and are passionate about. I’m happy to say it, but I feel like we are living out our happily ever after in real time. There’s nothing more in life we ask for.
