February 6, 2023 - February 11, 2023

The Wisconsin Union’s Winter Carnival, a more than 80-year-old tradition, offers wintertime entertainment, including family-friendly activities. Visit frozen Lake Mendota in Madison from February 6–11 all day to experience the snowy fun.

A lifetime of memories will be created during this classic wintertime Madison adventure. There will be free hot chocolate, colorful winter kiting on the lake, and live music. And if you haven’t already seen the massive inflatable replica of the Statue of Liberty’s head poking out of frozen Lake Mendota, then this year is your chance to see the bright blue inflatable and snag some one-of-a-kind, instagrammable snapshots with all of your favorite people.

In addition to the stunning Statue of Liberty, guests can also anticipate a freestyle skiing and snowboarding contest, Rail Jam at the Memorial Union Terrace. Whether you’re participating in the event or just watching the competition, this snow-filled contest will keep you on your toes. And of course, be sure to check out the Union’s many dining options at its building, the Memorial Union, from wood-fired personal pizzas and mouth-watering pasta bowls at Strada to a unique spin on the classic German beer hall brimming with traditional pub fare at Der Rathskeller

This event is free to attend.
