Hometown: Kenosha, WI

First job: My parents and grandparents owned a retail flower shop and garden center for more than 50 years in Kenosha. I grew up working in the business with them.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in WI: When I joined Springs, I moved back to Wisconsin from North Carolina and have been reacclimating to winters here. As part of “embracing the cold,” I’ve recently started cross country skiing.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: I take a lot of pride in the marketing team we’re building at Springs. The company has gone through many changes the past few years, and marketing is a bigger focus for the organization. We’ve added new capabilities to the group and are developing a terrific team.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: I’ve had the opportunity to work in a broad range of industries – from consumer packaged goods at Johnson & Johnson to consumer electronics at LG to home appliances at Electrolux, and now window treatments at Springs. While I have learned a lot from the diversity of these experiences, there was also a steep learning curve when I started with these organizations.

Someone who inspires you and why: Bill Gates. The company he founded, Microsoft, is one of the world’s most successful businesses. He’s now having an equally big impact on society through his philanthropic efforts.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Marketing is all about the consumer. There’s always more to learn about who is using your product and why they purchase it.

Favorite quote: “Let’s go invent tomorrow rather than worrying about what happened yesterday.” –Steve Jobs

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: My wife and I met in England. We were both studying abroad while in college.

What makes someone fabulous: A good sense of humor.
