Hometown: Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI (woot!)

First job: Merchandise ticketer at JCPenney’s outlet store  in Milwaukee.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in WI: I love Milwaukee’s live music and dining scene–can’t wait to enjoy that again soon!

Your biggest accomplishment and why: Starting our business, Married In Milwaukee, and making it our full-time gig. As a former CPA/auditor, I never would have thought I’d be an entrepreneur. Now 10 years in, I don’t think I could go back to working for someone else.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: Various aspects of my young childhood were pretty rough. To be where I am today, a successful business owner, while maintaining a love for people and life, that’s my biggest accomplishment. Big shout out to my husband of 15 years and my biggest cheerleader for always believing in me!

Someone who inspires you and why: I feel inspired by literally everyone I meet. Everyone has a story to tell.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: I started my business while working full time and having a young child at home. My biggest advice for someone looking to start their own business is carve out time each week to work on your business. And run the numbers! See how much you have to sell and time you have to spend to make the revenue you want (need) early on to see if your venture has long-term life to it.

Favorite quote: “Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.” –Bob Marley

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I leave my Christmas tree and decorations up until our wedding anniversary in March! Ha!

What makes someone fabulous: Being true to yourself and kindness is everything.
