Fabulous People: Frank Clary

Wisconsin native Frank Clary is a buyer by day and a food photographer and food exploration specialist at all other times. (Just check out this mouthwatering cookie photo!) Learn about Frank Clary…

Hometown: Green Bay, WI

First job: Oh boy, I was a housekeeper at the Hilton near my parents’ house.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in WI: Exploring food and beverage. I’ve been trying to find other stuff to do, but if I can find a distillery or brewery and or some good food and talk shop with a chef, I’m in my happy place

Your biggest accomplishment and why: That’s tough, probably making it through college. My schooling before that did not set me up for success so being able to adapt quickly and do well was big for me.

Someone who inspires you and why: It’s more a collection of people than just one person but the general theme is people immersing themselves in things that make them happy. Again, I see that a lot in food and beverage and that’s what draws me to it. Being able to provide someone an experience. To create a positive memory or tradition, that’s special.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Start creating and lean into people doing it better. Create allies and collaborate with an authentic desire to learn and elevate the people around you. People can sniff dishonesty and inauthentic behavior miles away.

Favorite quote: More a concept. “Ego is the enemy” –Ryan Holiday

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I’m 25 percent Ojibwa and went to school on the Oneida Reservation.

What makes someone fabulous: A good heart used to spread happiness.
