The Edgewater Hotel in Madison

Located in the heart of Wisconsin’s Capitol on Lake Mendota, The Edgewater is Madison’s only AAA Four Diamond Hotel & Spa and is one of the Historic Hotels of America.

The Edgewater first opened in 1948 as Madison’s premier destination for special occasions and celebrations. While maintaining the historic charm, The Edgewater underwent a renovation with significant additions and now offers more than 200 guest rooms, an outdoor plaza and park, several restaurants and lounges, a luxurious spa, moorings for boats, and extraordinary facilities for meetings, events and weddings. The restored property maintains the classic façade of the historic 1948 building, now called The Langdon Building, and a new tower, The Wisconsin Building has completely new interiors, several restaurants, a magnificent spa, ballrooms, and a large plaza that connects both hotel guests and the public with the beautiful waters of the lake.

In addition to the historic charm of this hotel, the lakefront views of Lake Mendota are one of the biggest draws of The Edgewater. From The Sky Bar, a rooftop event space on The Wisconsin Building, you can enjoy views of Lake Mendota, the State Capitol, the city and university. Plus, the gym, The Statehouse restaurant, and the lakefront guest rooms have great views of Lake Mendota as well.

All of the guest rooms in both buildings offer luxurious accommodations, spacious bathrooms, spa showers and well-appointed décor. There are more than 10 different room types, offering different sizes and views to suit your needs with the comforts of home.

The Edgewater offers several dining options on property. The Market offers quick breakfast and lunch options, perfect for morning coffee or a sandwich. Located at lake level in the historic Langdon Building, The Boathouse serves authentic Wisconsin favorites like a chicken BLT on Stella’s spicy cheese bread. The patio on the lake is perfect dining on a beautiful summer day. The Statehouse is the hotel’s fine dining option with lake views, serving Modern Midwestern cuisine with inspiration from many local, artisanal producers, while also ensuring that global influences are sourced sustainably.
