Nothing says “Welcome to fall!” quite like picking the most perfect pumpkin for your porch with a cup of hot apple cider in hand. Here are six top pumpkin patches and fall festivals to visit in Wisconsin this season.
Note that the farms, orchards and patches are adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols, and some activities might be changed.
Mommsen’s Harvest Hills Pumpkin Patch and Apple Orchard
Located in: Rice Lake
Open daily through Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mommsen’s Harvest Hills Pumpkin Patch and Apple Orchard is a fall wonderland come to life. The 40-acre farm features corn mazes, a petting farm, weekend hayrides, pumpkin artillery, pick-your-own apples, local crafts, tasty treats, produce and more. Whatever you do, don’t miss the caramel apples.
Porter’s Patch
Located in: Bonduel
Farmtoberfest at Porter’s Patch kicks off Sept. 26 and Sept. 27 and runs every weekend, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Nov. 10. Event-goers will enjoy hay rides, crafts (like scarecrow- and fall bouquet-making), endless games for the whole family and, of course, access to the pumpkin patch. Farmtoberfest will be spread across the 26 acres of Porter’s Patch.
Swan’s Pumpkin Farm
Located in: Racine County
A local favorite for 40 years, Swan’s Pumpkin Farm is open the last Saturday in September through Oct. 31. Family-friendly activities include the tractor-drawn hayride through corn fields and pumpkin patches, a not-so-haunted house, barrel train rides and much more. For an autumnal treat, try the farm’s famous apple cider doughnuts. Swan’s is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
Bures Berry Patch, Inc.
Located in: Barneveld
Open Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Bures Berry Patch invites visitors to meander through the patch, feed the chickens, hop on a hayride, stroll through the kiddie corn maze and much more while enjoying the changing fall colors. Be sure to pick up local honey, farm-fresh eggs and just-picked squash before leaving the farm!
Treinen Farm
Located in: Lodi
Treinen Farm is a scenic 200-acre farm that is home to award-winning corn mazes that can take up to a few hours to complete, in some instances (there are kid-friendly options, too). The farm also hosts two pumpkin patches—at over 14 acres—that have more than 20 varieties of pumpkins to choose from, ranging from $3 to $10. Treinen Farm is open Wednesday through Sunday until Nov. 8.
Creek Bed Country Farmacy
Located in: Poynette
Creek Bed Country Farmacy is home to Wisconsin’s largest corn maze and a wide variety of pumpkins, squash and gourds. Also known for its beloved strawberry and sunflower festivals, there is plenty of open space to wander and gorgeous scenery to take in. Creek Bed Country Farmacy is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Sept. 26 to Oct. 31.
