Restaurant of the Week: Everyday Kitchen

A lot of restaurants are big on promises, but wind up being short on delivery. That’s not the case at Everyday Kitchen on Madison’s near Westside.

“We’re serving up Wisco food with a twist,” says Executive Chef Taylor Green. “And paired with high-level hospitality, our guests are treated to a dining experience in which they can just kick back while we do all the work.”

As the culinary arm of Lodgic Coworking, this upscale Everyday Kitchen is open to the public seven days a week—independent of membership status. A treat indeed, as Green and his team have created inventive fare new to the Madison food scene.

This is particularly refreshing in regard to the weekend brunch menu. For more veggie-inclined palates, the blistered shishito peppers are a knock-out thanks to a miso-sesame sauce that’s detectable from first bite. And the buttermilk blueberry pancakes come adorned with meringue kisses and fresh berries—a decadent breakfast treat guaranteed to satisfy the most ravenous sweet tooth.

For those craving a more savory entrée, the vegetable lasagna terrine is one of several stellar vegan and gluten-free dishes that defies the default tendency to limit allergen-friendly options to only an assortment of salads. Meat lovers will be won over by the hearty EK Cheeseburger piled high with locally-sourced Neuske Farms candied bacon and fried onions, then slathered in a mornay sauce made out of award-winning Hook Cheese Company’s white cheddar because…hey, why not?

“We’re not standing on pre-tense or hitting the ‘easy button.’ Our aim is to extend an invitation to be a part of something bigger, since a portion of every meal sold helps to the support the nonprofit entities Lodgic fiscally sponsors,” says Green. “By being invested in the community on multiple levels, we’re providing a haven of normalcy in these strange times.”

Also, don’t put off a visit until having a few hours free to linger on the posh three-seasons patio. The front of the house café is an ideal pitstop for freshly brewed, artisan coffee and made-from-scratch cinnamon rolls, Danishes or scones when on the go. Being able to provide crave-worthy comfort foods from morning to night ensures Everyday Kitchen will be a “foodie destination” in this city for months to come.
