Check Out the Collection at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art Virtually

Though temporarily closed, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art is giving enthusiasts a chance to experience its awe-inspiring collection of works via a virtual tour.

Free and available online at any time, the virtual tour allows art fans to peruse some of the MMoCA’s nearly-6,000-piece collection. The museum is known for having one of the nation’s finest Chicago Imagism collection as well as significant holdings in Wisconsin-based artists, Mexican Modernist prints and contemporary photography.

Current stops on the virtual tour include Frida Khalo’s Pitahayas; a spotlight on The Chicago Imagists, a group of figurative artists who emerged in Chicago in the mid-1960’s; and Romare Bearden’s Serenade, among many, many other notable works.

Online tour-goers can even bookmark favorites to “My Collection” to view during their session.
